SOUTH AFRICA — Springbok head coach Rassie Erasmus struck a light-hearted tone after South Africa defeated New Zealand 29-24 in the third Test at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on 5 September 2026. Erasmus joked that he and All Blacks coach Dave Rennie might share a drink on the flight to the United States.
Speaking after the match, Erasmus said he hoped to have a beer with Rennie during the journey, adding:
"His will be a little bit more bitter and mine will be a little more sweeter."

He also addressed the trophy itself, noting that a drawn series outcome remained a possibility.
"I know we can't lose it anymore because there's not points difference or tries scored (as a tie breaker).
"But the trophy was actually designed in two halves to be shared if it's a draw. So, it's game on," he added.
Both teams will now travel together to Baltimore for the fourth and final Test next weekend.
