After successfully completing the documentation process, Ashong was reunited with his family on Thursday, April 14, 2022.

''I was overly happy because the woman who brought Ashong to Ghana had told me about her traumatic experience since the boy got missing,'' he recounted.
''She has not known peace and inner happiness, so seeing her so happy, screaming, singing praises to God made me so happy that, through my journalistic work, I brought joy to her and her family.
