Nepal was hit by another devastating wave of flash flooding on Sunday, 11 October 2026, with violent floodwaters tearing through districts including Gorkha and Nuwakot. Footage shared by the New York Times on TikTok captured the scale of the destruction, showing buildings and at least one bridge being swallowed by the surging Budhi Gandaki River.

The footage, sourced from the Associated Press and Nepal Army via Reuters, combined aerial drone shots with ground-level video, painting a deeply distressing picture of communities overwhelmed by the torrent.

Weeks after the Tibet border floods

The timing made the disaster all the more alarming. The flooding came just weeks after a catastrophic flood along the Nepal-Tibet border claimed more than a thousand lives, leaving the country with little time to recover before another crisis struck.
