Briefly News earlier reported that one of four children and the son of a school teacher, supermodel Siphosethu Ncise grew up in the Khayelitsha township. One of his favourite things to do as a boy was to watch America’s Next Top Model, where he would critique the models and give them advice through the TV on how to walk and present themselves.

He recalls being sad at times because he was so desperate to be a part of that world. Siphosethu speaks openly about how he was bullied at school for playing with girls and remembers how he chose to come out at the age of 16, a brave move for any young teenager.

Siphosethu didn’t choose the path of modelling immediately and, instead chose the more conservative route of studying Accountancy when he left school. One year into his studies he went with a fellow student to an aspiring model open day. The rest, as they say, is history. Agency Founder, Robin Fryer admits openly that they saw in Siphosethu what he saw in himself and so their journey together began.
