What makes the story heartbreaking is that he attended the stepdaughter's wedding but could not manage to drive back in time to watch his biological daughter walk down the aisle.

According to the unnamed dad, his stepdaughter's wedding was on Saturday, which sounded like a possibility to attend then travel to a different state for his own daughter's event on Sunday.

As soon as the first wedding was over, he hit the road and drove for 13 hours during the night to watch his daughter get joined in holy matrimony the next morning.

That was not to be because he got lost somewhere along the way and missed the more important event.

"I calculated that if I left my stepdaughter's wedding at 10 pm and drove through the night, I'd make it with two hours to freshen up and get ready. Unfortunately, I got lost along the way plus traffic and I missed the actual wedding ceremony," said the dad.

When it was clear that he could not be there, his daughter was handed over to the groom by her stepfather.

As an apology, he offered his daughter and her new husband a fully paid trip to Japan but she is yet to forgive him.

The miscalculation is said to have enforced her daughter's lifelong belief that he favoured the stepchild more than his own biological one.

"I love them both equally and I've never shown preferential treatment towards my stepdaughter, something my daughter always accuses me of," he said, as reported by Daily Mail.

According to the dad, his wedding quagmire began when his stepdaughter informed him that she would be having her wedding on a Saturday.

When his biological daughter got wind of that, she was annoyed and accused her stepsister of knowingly slating her wedding a day before hers.

"My daughter sent her own save the date a week later for the Sunday on that same weekend," explained the besieged dad.

The events of that weekend have seen the old man receiving backlash from his extended family who accuse him of prioritizing a stranger more than the child he sired.

Internet users who read the story also seemed to agree that the father did not do the right thing.

BabyDollUni:

"I feel like this was a pattern for her growing up. I know it was beyond your control and you say there was no favoritism. It probably came off that way."

DrakeFloyd:

"The truth is OP does love his stepdaughter more. Because he raised her more and was around her more. But he won’t even admit that to himself."

Appleandwatermelonn:

"The worst part is that he didn't even prioritise one ceremony over the other because he had to choose. He easily could have done both, but he chose to stay until the end of the reception."

The dad, however, remains adamant that he tried his best to make both daughters happy on their big days failed one of them completely.
