End of the road: 4 celebrity breakups that stunned Mzansi in 2018

Mzansi loves a glamorous celebrity couple. It's always heartwarming to see our favourite celebrities find romantic partners and fall in love.

However, celebrity couples sometimes don't have a happy ending. Briefly.co.za looks at four South African celebrity couples that called it quits in 2018.

1. Thando Thabethe and Frans Mashao

Actress and media personality Thando Thabethe appeared to have found the love of her life in Frans Mashao.

The two got engaged in December 2017 and fans were eagerly waiting for their wedding. However, Thando was no longer wearing her engagement ring by June 2018.

She confirmed the breakup in media interviews, but steadfastly declined to reveal the reasons why.

2. Proverb and Liesl Laurie

Idols presenter Proverb and Miss South Africa 2015 Liesl Laurie were among Mzansi's most fabulous celebrity couples.

However, fans noticed something amiss when they stopped sharing photos of each other on their Instagram profiles earlier this year.

Although they haven't officially confirmed it, they appear to have called it quits.

3. Nonhle and Andile Jali

Soccer star Andile Jali and his ex-bae Nonhle probably had the most dramatic of all celebrity breakups in 2018.

Police got involved in late October at their Pretoria home amid allegations of physical assault. Andile was arrested and spent a night in jail.

The following day, he reportedly opened an assault case against Nonhle. It's unclear what the future holds for them.

4. Lerato and the late HHP

The late rapper HHP announced his breakup with wife Lerato Sengadi in April 2018 via Instagram, leaving fans shook.

Sadly, he reportedly took his own life just six months later. This left Lerato and his fans utterly heartbroken.
