Cyril Ramaphosa praises Soweto Gospel Choir for making SA proud
President Cyril Ramaphosa has congratulated the multi-award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir for being South African heroes. The choir, in turn, presented their third Grammy Award to the President.

The special event was held at the Market Theatre Square in Johannesburg yesterday.

Ramaphosa said: “We thought it was important we hold this event so that we can see you, honour you and celebrate you, as well as celebrate with you because of your recent achievement..."

He praised the choir on winning an acclaimed Grammy Award. Briefly.co.za previously reported that the group scooped the Best World Music Award at the star-studded event in February for their album Freedom.

He described the choir as being a "colourful export" and said their music inspires people and cuts across all cultural and religious boundaries. He encouraged the choir to continue to inspire the nation.
