Finally, Dumi Masilela will be honoured in Germiston Theatre name change

It’s been over two years since Dumi Masilela’s passing and the promise of the Germiston Theatre in Ekurhuleni being named after him is finally materialising.

Dumi was shot in an attempted hijacking in Tembisa and died in hospital on August 3 2017.

Briefly.co.za learnt that the name change of Germiston Theatre will be finally taking place next week after a year and a half wait.

Germiston was Dumi’s hometown and they felt it was only right to rename the theatre after him in his honour.

The executive mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni and ANC Ekurhuleni regional chairperson, Mzwandile Masina, revealed the named change ceremony date on social media last week.

Even though it has taken a while for this to be done, the public are pleased that the promise has actually been kept.
