Saturday night was filled with breaking news as the results of the US elections were predicted by all major news networks, indicating that Democrat Joe Biden had won the election after taking the majority of votes in the key state of Pennsylvania.
South African political parties have not released statements save for the Economic Freedom Fighters who posted a message on Twitter.
Briefly.co.za learned that the EFF were cautious in their response, neither congratulating Biden or making a judgement on the election, instead, the party took the opportunity to cement their position on American foreign policy in Africa and the middle east.

The party said that it is too early to congratulate Biden and he will earn his praise when he leaves office based on what he has done while in power.
Julius Malema was more scathing on his response to Donald Trump's constant denial that he was losing the election and vacuous claims that there was massive voter fraud.
Malema called Donald Trump a "cry baby" and urged him to accept defeat.
Messages of congratulations have come pouring in, with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa releasing a statement on social media, congratulating Biden.
