Malusi Gigaba's estranged wife, Norma Mngoma rebranded in 2020 and made an entirely new name for herself, literally. The former minister of home affairs' ex-wife dropped the name Gigaba and went back to her maiden name.

Norma Mngoma was all over the news in 2020 for quite a few different reasons. Briefly.co.za explores the changes through Norma's life last year.

1. Criminal charges

Norma fell into trouble with the law when she trashed a luxury car that Malusi had borrowed from a friend. In August 2020, Norma spent a night behind bars for damaging the car. She also allegedly had her way with her husband's study room. She was released on bail of R5 000.

She made an appearance at the Pretoria regional court in September 2020 on charges of malicious damage to property and crimen injuria.

2. Change of surname

Norma changed her surname back to Mngoma in 2020. She did not reveal if she was going through a separation or a divorce but shared the decision with her followers. Norma was happy to go back to using her maiden name and said that it was where she belonged.

She also changed her name on her social media accounts to show that she means business.

“Norma Mngoma is a person I've always been. Norma Gigaba found Norma Mngoma on the way and when that didn't work, I decided to go back to my surname because the other surname served a purpose until it ended," said Norma.

3. Tell all interview dropping the tea about Malusi

The former minister's ex-wife did not hold back when she decided to go on eNCA and spill all the beans about Malusi Gigaba's dealings with the Guptas. Norma shared that the money from the Gupta's helped fund their luxury lifestyle.

She also dragged Malusi for having a "wandering-eye" and told the journalist that he had a porn addiction. Which is the reason why their marriage ended.

Briefly.co.za previously reported that Malusi Gigaba hit back at Norma Mngoma. Malusi Gigaba has hit back at his ex-wife estranged wife, Norma Mngoma, saying her claims that he received a stash of cash from the Guptas are “nonsense”.

In a short exclusive interview with Briefly.co.za, Gigaba took a jab at Norma, saying he would not tolerate her unfounded claims.
