Lindsay Dentlinger controversy

On 25th February 2021, the eNCA political journalist came under harsh criticism after asking UDM Deputy President Hon Nqabayomzi Kwankwa to put on his mask during an interview in parliament. The incident occurred at the 2021 Budget Speech coverage.

She was branded racist because she had interviewed Freedom Front Plus leader Pieter Groenewald and DA’s John Steenhuisen without masks on before the UDM deputy president came forward. Twitter users criticized her open bias and the portrayal of black people as being spreaders of Covid-19.

eNCA later released a statement defending the political reporter. The broadcasting company said that Dentlinger had no malicious intentions when she asked Hon Nqabayomzi to put on his mask.

South Africans do not seem to accept eNCA’s apology regarding Lindsay Dentlinger’s conduct at the February 2021 Budget Speech. It is understandable that her career is sometimes demanding. Hopefully, the mistake will not happen again in the future.
