Actor Lunga Mofokeng shared a different perspective of life as a celebrity, away from the glitz and the glam, and it struck a chord with fellow actors.

Lunga Mofokeng hints at financial struggles

Fans have not seen much of Lunga Mofokeng since The River came to an end, and despite the many shows that have been released in recent years, the talented actor has barely landed a role. He finally hinted at why that is so.

Taking to his Instagram page on 24 July 2025, the actor and TikTok comedian shared a text image about hitting rock bottom as an actor. The text read:

"Not being able to attend auditions due to lack of finances is a struggle we don't talk about as actors."

Lunga shared the post with an emotional "Or am I tripping?" caption, suggesting he had been in a similar situation.

Sadly, he is not the only actor who experienced financial difficulty.

Previously, Briefly News reported on veteran actress Nandi Nyebe's plea for job opportunities after facing hardship. The actress emphasised that she was not looking for handouts, but rather employment to sustain her.

This highlights the harshness of the film industry and the recurring trend of TV stars facing adversity despite their fame and influence. Many resort to seeking donations from supporters.

Mofokeng starred opposite late actor Presley Chweneyagae on The River and portrayed the character of Lindiwe Dikana's son, Andile. After the show was scrapped, Mofokeng maintained his popularity by creating hilarious skits and often collaborating with brands.
