Award-winning singer Simphiwe Dana wants to be credited for the artistic use of the afrocentric hairstyles. Which dates back to ancient times, by the way. The Ndiredi hitmaker accused actress Nomzamo Mbatha and Shaka Ilembe of appropriating her style and not crediting her.

This opened the floor to her getting roasted on social media, and the jokes just kept coming. Actress Sannah Mchunu joined the bandwagon and dragged Dana for filth.

“I'm now fed up with brands appropriating my style. The least you can do is acknowledge where you got the ideas from. I'm talking to you, Shaka iLembe and Nomzamo Mbatha. The other sister I won't mention. It started here. Appreciate, don't appropriate.”

She further stated that this was cringe and it frustrates her.

“Honey, there’s a difference between appreciation and appropriation. You’re not the only one. I’m fed up. It’s deeply disconcerting and cringe.”

In one post, Sannah asked, "What are you guys doing to Ndirediii?"

However, she did not stop there. She also posted an old photo of her rocking a similar hairstyle with the caption, "Does this hairstyle also belong to Ndi. I should apologise."

Vicky, a professional hairstylist, told Briefly News that Sannah Mchunu's hairstyle does not look fully natural. "This particular hairstyle needs one to relax their natural hair. Afterwards, we use artificial donut buns and then sew them onto the hair after we make knots," she said. Vicky said the buns need to be bundled up together to maintain their hold.

"Then, you can accessorise it in whichever way you want to give it that unique look."

"Sorry is Ndi for NDIREADY?"

@samethott laughed:

“Ndi” for ‘ndiready' is absolutely crazy because?"

"Love her as an artist, but aowa, this is not the one. On Facebook, someone even shared a website showing research could have been done for shows like Shaka iLembe into how they had their hairstyle."

Anele Mdoda trolls Simphiwe

In a previous report from Briefly News, Anele Mdoda joined the bandwagon and trolled the popular songstress, Simphiwe Dana.
