Reality has finally sunk in for South African actor Gabriel Temudzani. Famously known for his role as Chief Azwindini, he joined the show 25 years ago.

The talented actor has conveyed his final words as the telenovela will officially end on Tuesday, 12 August 2025.

According to Daily Sun, Gabriel has expressed pride after having served the nation for more than two decades. He said that although this moment is sad for all of them, he is proud of the work that they have done. He is mostly proud of his work, as he did it with pride.

"Sad as it is, we have done our part and are bowing out with pride knowing that we have served purposefully," he shared.

The show first debuted 28 years ago. Many seasons later, it still stood tall. This success, according to Gabriel Temudzani, was made possible because they did everything right and their storyline resonated with a lot of people.

"Being part of a show that ran for so long means there was something good that we were doing. Additionally, we have struck a resonance with our people, and that is why we have lasted this long."

Gabriel thanks Mzansi for support

During an interview on Newzroom Afrika, Gabriel relayed a sweet and heartfelt message of thanks to viewers.

"I would like to say thank you to every South African who rallied behind us for 28 years. We are grateful for the support we got over all those years," he said.

Other stars also reacted to the end of Muvhango, saying they were saddened but proud.

"As they say their final goodbyes, the royal sons reflect on the incredible journey they’ve shared and the unwavering support from all of you. This is how they felt shooting their very last scene ever on Muvhango," the soapie capioned the video.

Wavhudi Lidzengu, who was with the soapie for 17 years as Azwindini's son, Vutshilo Mukwevho, had this to say:

“I am really emotional since it’s the last day. I’m going to miss everybody, including all the departments."

The show that will replace Muvhango has been produced by Bakwena Productions, and it will air weekdays at 9 pm on SABC 2. In the meantime, Giyani: Land Of Blood will air until the premiere of the new show.

In a previous report from Briefly News, Muvhango viewers were left shocked when popular characters Mulalo and Rendani Mukwevho had a one-night stand.

The Mukwevho cousins, Mulalo and Rendani, will also conceive a royal baby after their random hook up. Fans of the soapie recently took to X to criticise the writers of the show and thanked the channel for cancelling the show.
