South African rapper Emtee was in hot water after his wife supposedly leaked his Instagram DMs. One of the women he was speaking with was former Big Brother Mzansi star Mshini Lekwadu.

Shortly after the scandal erupted on social media, rapper Emtee went on Instagram Live and addressed some of the salty remarks from people.

On the live, he noted how Mshini has always supported his music. He also told the people close to her to ask her if she could join the live so he could apologise directly.

Mshini releases a statement

On Monday, 11 August 2025, Mshini released a statement setting the record straight. She accused Emtee of misleading people with the leaks, begging him to release the full DMs to prove the nature of their conversation.

"While in the Big Brother house, I openly supported Emtee because I am genuinely a fan of his music. After the show, he reached out to me via DM to express his appreciation for my support. I responded by telling him I am a fan and that I would love to be part of one of his future music videos, she stated."

Mshini then asked Emtee to correct the situation by proving that their conversation was only related to music and nothing else.
