He said:

"It's always refreshing being in South Africa because it's always love. Unfortunately, I experienced glitches in my previous performance. I received an offer to perform at Ndlala Mall, and I grabbed that opportunity so I could do justice to my fans who paid their hard-earned money to see me perform, but experienced bad sound during my performance."

Thomas further shared that he is excited to be performing at the grand opening alongside Donell Jones.

"I'm looking forward to my performance at Ndlala Mall, and I'm humbled to have received the star from Thami Ndlala," he said.

Thami shared with Briefly News that the reason they decided to schedule the grand opening for two days is to give netizens an opportunity to see their favourite acts on different dates.

He said:

"Remember the event was initially scheduled for 2 days, this is us keeping the promise to give people an opportunity to choose their favourite."

Why did Tank cancel his South African concert?

According to a report by the Sowetan, the 49-year-old American singer, who was billed to perform on 2 and 3 August 2025, cancelled over an undisclosed business disagreement. Popular South African songstress Zonke was also scheduled to perform at the grand opening of Ndlala Mall in Arcadia, Pretoria.

On Monday, 28 July 2025, Tank took to his official Instagram account to confirm the cancellation. He apologised to South African fans who had been waiting for over ten years to see him perform and expressed optimism that the matter would be resolved swiftly.

“Some things have fallen apart business-wise that are going to prevent me from fulfilling my obligations to you. I firstly want to apologise to you, the fans and all the people who were making plans to pull up and enjoy this R&B music. Hopefully, things can be resolved, and preferable I can get up there,” Tank said.
