Multitalented actor and musician Mbuso Khoza has officially launched his mental health organisation. Taking to Instagram, the Shaka iLembe star revealed his struggles with depression and anxiety, mentioning that he has always been approached by young professionals to implement this initiative.

Mbuso has a wealth of experience in the acting and music fields, so he is well-equipped with the knowledge of how to navigate the hardships. In his announcement, he spoke about the sensitive topic of suicide and how suicidal thoughts crept in from time to time.

"After so many years of struggling with anxiety and depression and ADD and countless suicidal ideations, I’ve been encouraged by the young women and men who are excelling in different fields to come up with a mental wellness organisation that will be tackling the issues of suicide, anxiety and depression."

The NPO will be run by the young professionals themselves, while Mbuso Khoza supports them in the background.

"They committed themselves to running this non-profit organisation. My job will be to support them, and they will create opportunities for themselves. What a great blessing. Even this particular graphic was designed by the young boy within the organisation called Innerpeace."

Mbuso gets real about mental health struggles

The former Umkhokha: The Curse star recently opened up about his mental health struggles with Daily Sun. He mentioned how he resorted to selling CDs in the streets to make ends meet.

However, because of his talents, he was able to audition for TV roles and landed his very first dream job at Umkhokha. "I went through depression. I was selling CDs on the streets until I decided to come back and ventured into acting," he said.

Khoza advised professionals to seek other avenues of employment, especially when times get tough in their industries.

In a previous report from Briefly News, Mbuso Khoza called out South African producer and filmmaker Duma Ka Ndlovu for allegedly owing him money.

The actor claimed he was owed royalties for the work he did on Umkhokha: The Curse from 2021 until the last season.
