Kgomotso Christopher was recently called out for supporting President Cyril Ramaphosa and the ANC.
The actress took to her Twitter (X) page on 25 August 2025 to voice her opinion on the ongoing conversation about actors dying or retiring poor, something many online users attribute to poor financial management.
Kgomotso said it was due to the exploitation of actors' work, and highlighted the unsigned Copyright Amendment Bill that continues to give production houses an unfair advantage:
"It’s not about misusing our very low salaries. It’s not about financial mismanagement. Until the President signs the bill we’ve been begging him to sign for almost a decade, our work will continue to be commercially exploited without compensation. No royalties for SA actors, sadly."

The bill aims to provide fair remuneration and introduce provisions for fair use and resale royalties for South African actors. It has yet to be signed by President Ramaphosa, who referred it to the Constitutional Court in October 2024 to rule on its legitimacy.

It wasn't long before a troll found an old tweet by Christopher from 2018, declaring her support for Cyril Ramaphosa.
However, instead of addressing the tweet directly, Kgomotso responded sharply by showing off her academic qualifications and achievements. These include a law degree, experience as a lecturer at Wits University, and multiple awards as an actress.
She went on to imply that the screenshot was AI-generated, much like Gayton McKenzie, who recently faced backlash for his racist posts.
The conversation was sparked by veteran actress Nandi Nyembe's death, highlighting how more and more actors continue to face adversity, seemingly without government intervention.
Here's how Mzansi reacted to Kgomotso Christopher's post

Meanwhile, others slammed Kgomotso for using her qualifications to divert attention away from her support of the ANC:
_davinny asked:
"Maybe I'm slow, but what do your qualifications have to do with this?"
VusiMbuzi was curious:
"So, because of your academic achievements, you can't admit you were wrong?"
TshephoSes called out Kgomotso Christopher:
"Your education doesn't mean anything in this instance. You still voted for the same gent who doesn't care about your craft. With all that education, you’re still left with no royalties for your hard work!"
PalesaMogorosi_ said:
"I am trying to wrap my mind around the logic of using your accomplishments as a cop-out for applauding a man whose government is responsible for actively neglecting the industry of your career. I think these qualifications do not negate your questionable sense of judgment."
MveloZulu88 was unimpressed:
"With all that, and you still voted for Cyril."
Gayton McKenzie called out for not supporting Nandi Nyembe
In an earlier report, Briefly News shared online reactions to Gayton McKenzie's tribute message to the late Nandi Nyembe.
The Minister of Sports was accused of failing the veteran actress, whom he promised continued support while she was still alive.
