DJ Shimza is topping social media trends after debuting his new look, and instead of receiving praise, he is being trolled.
The DJ/ producer has faced his fair share of online criticism; however, not even he saw the day he would have to prove himself to trolls.
Since first coming out with his new body, Shimza was accused of taking medication, namely Ozempic, to lose weight.
Clinically called Semaglutide, the medication was originally used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. However, according to Mediclinic, the medication has gained rapid recognition as more South Africans turn to medical interventions for weight loss.

Online users claimed that Shimza must have used Semaglutide to shed his weight, after seemingly losing most of it right in front of their eyes.
Addressing the allegations in a now-viral Twitter (X) video on 9 September 2025, the DJ was recorded at the gym having hit the 5 km mark on the treadmill. He posted a cheeky comment addressed to the trolls:
"I laugh with you, at me, that way everyone is happy."
Other stars whose weight loss was questioned
Sadly, Shimza isn't the only celebrity who has had their appearance questioned by online users.
- Previously, Uncle Waffles was accused of going on "the O" after new pictures showing her slimmer figure surfaced online.
- This comes after Briefly News shared netizens' comments accusing her of gaining weight just months prior. Many claimed that Waffles used a quick fix to shed the weight overnight, and apparently, she wasn't the only one.
- After sharing a new picture of their dramatic transformation, the Major League DJZ were also accused of taking the famous medication.
- Despite posting their over-the-top workout video, social media remains sceptical about how and when the twin DJs lost all that weight.
- Cassper Nyovest was pressured into hitting the gym after fans noticed his unusual weight gain during a performance.

Another rapper, K.O, real name Ntokozo Mdluli, was also a victim of trolls after dropping a significant amount of weight in 2014.
After officially launching his solo career, ahead of the release of what would later be the biggest record of his career, Caracara, there were rumours that the Supanova rapper was sick with HIV.
He was caught in a storm over his status, and although he explained that the weight loss was from working hard at the gym, he was later forced to take a test and publish the results to prove the trolls wrong.
Speaking to News24 later that year, the rapper said the rumours hurt him:
"It hurt me. That's why I decided to clear the air and take a public test."
This speaks to fans' scepticism about only seeing celebrities' results after they've shed their weight. And with the growing popularity of Ozempic in South Africa, it's clear that stars will either have to publicise their weight loss journeys or fall victim to trolls.
