Bathong, Mzansi is having a field day on social media by dragging Murdah Bongz's name through the mud, and it's all because of the popular X (formerly Twitter) troll, Chris Excel.
On Thursday, 11 September 2025, the X troll shared a picture of a man sitting on the floor with a blanket over their shoulders, demonstrating a woman whom they are paying lobola to, and jokingly referred to that unknown man as Murdah Bongz next weekend, sitting before DJ Zinhle's uncles to take the reality TV star's surname.
This happened just shortly after the constitutional court announced its ruling of allowing men in South Africa to take their wives' surnames in marriage and also have women pay lobola for them.
