South African DJ and producer Chymamusique is contemplating leaving some of his operations for 2026.

Having undergone a total of six surgeries in a space of two months, the latest being an operation on his jaw on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, Chyma wants to rest and not constantly have to be under anaesthetic.

"I’m thinking of leaving one operation for next year. I’m tired of being under anaesthetic and having to heal from endless wounds," he told The Citizen.

Real name Collen Mmotla, the 35-year-old DJ was involved in a head-on collision on 31 August in Polokwane. He was travelling with fellow DJ, Poizen, who, along with four other occupants of the other vehicle, did not survive the horrific crash.

His prolonged recovery has forced him to cancel his November gigs. However, he revealed that he's expected to have healed from most of the surgeries by December.

The frustration caused by his surgeries came after the DJ reached out to his supporters for donations to help him cover his medical expenses.

With the launch of his GoFundMe initiative, good Samaritans have opened their hearts and wallets to ensure that the producer continues to get the help he needs.

Donations pour in for Chymamusique

Hours after launching his crowdfunding campaign, Chymamusique's community had managed to donate enough money to cover his next doctor's visits.

Briefly News revealed that the DJ was depending on the sales from his t-shirts to make extra money since putting a pause on his businesses and performances.

While he stressed that his financial situation isn’t dire, he was urged by his social media followers to launch a fundraising campaign to help ease the burden of the medical bills.

"The situation isn’t that bad, but medical scripts and medical copayments will want +/-15k per month, including check-ups and medical aid, etc. By popular demand, I was asked to open a BackABuddy campaign to reduce the load from the medical bills."

In just 24 hours since the campaign was launched, Chyma's supporters managed to raise R62,000 towards his medical expenses.

With the goal set to R200,000 over two months, the DJ's "Post accident disability & medicine fund" has garnered nearly R77,000 as of 14 November. And as he slowly recovers, it's clear that the overwhelming generosity of his community has significantly eased his financial burden.
