The family of Juddy "Malekere" Mabula, who died 16 days after a car accident that injured Melita Mogale, known as Kharishma, has broken its silence.
Mabula, a Lekompo artist known as Malekere or Juddy Malekere 99, became the second person to die from the car crash after the passing of Vincent Maphopha, who was a student and also a musician. Maphopha was allegedly behind the wheel when the accident occurred on Friday, 31 October 2025

The Mabula family told the Daily Sun that they were struggling to cope with Malekere’s death. The 26-year-old Lekompo musician’s family said he died on Saturday, 15 November, after spending 16 days at Polokwane Hospital battling his injuries.

Speaking to the Daily Sun after his younger brother’s passing, Oscar Mabula (32) said the family visited the Lekompo musician in the hospital daily in the hopes that he would fully recover. Oscar reflected on his young brother’s final days, saying that he could neither see nor talk, but could hear and often reacted when he heard his family’s voices.
"What has happened was shocking for us," Oscar Mabula said.
He revealed that apart from being a musician, Malekere was also a student at the University of Limpopo, and next year would have been his final year.

Oscar Mabula said they will remember Juddy as an easy-going individual who loved to crack jokes and make everyone laugh. He added that the Mabula family is proud of the life that Malekere lived as a son and artist.
When contacted for comment by the Daily Sun, the Limpopo Arts Movement (LAM)'s general secretary, Pleasure Peta, appealed for prayers for Mabula’s family and all those affected. Peta expressed sadness and lamented how bad news is coming too frequently for Limpopo artists. He sent sympathy to Malekere’s family and the Limpopo music industry.
"We're asking for prayers. This is too much. May God protect Limpopo artists. Every week, we receive sad news. Condolences to the family and the Limpopo entertainment industry. We thought he was recovering, but unfortunately, he has left us too soon," he said.
Kharishma's brother gives update after car crash
In a related development, Briefly News previously reported that Kharishma's brother gave an update after she was hospitalised following the car crash that has now claimed two people.
Kharishma's driver, who was a student at the University of Limpopo, lost his life after the accident that occurred at the intersection of Grobler and Magazyn Streets in Polokwane.
