South African actress Mona Monyane reflected on her late daughter Amani-Amaza Wamazulu's life on her heavenly birthday.

On Sunday, 16 November 2025, the former Skeem Saam actress wrote a touching letter on Instagram, highlighting her unending love for Amani and the profound impact she had on her during her short time on earth.

"Thank you for reminding me of my light and my talents. Thank you for reminding me to take care of myself and to never let my dreams go. Thank you for saving me from darkness. I'm sorry I was sad for so long, but Mommy is better now, and I look forward to living fully for both of us."

Amani was born in 2017 to Mona and her ex-husband, Khulu Skenjana, but sadly passed away shortly after birth. She would have been eight in 2025.

Included in the actress's post was a carousel of old pictures, featuring one of Mona pregnant with Amani-Amaza. In another, Mona is seen holding infant Amani as her older sister, Ase-Ahadi Lesemole Mamphai, gently soothes her.

The slideshow also features a drawing created by Mona and Ase, which is said to be a portrait of Amani.

"The pic in slide 2 is for you, your Sister drew it, and I helped colour it in. I put you in a yellow dress because that colour reminds me of the essence you brought back into my Spirit. Thank you for coming to fetch your Mommy."

She concluded her post by declaring that they feel Amani's presence and would one day be reunited with her, looking to her as a guardian angel.

"We feel your presence every day, and we are so grateful to have you watching over us."

Her post moved fans and followers to tears, many of whom sent comforting messages and birthday tributes to Amani.
