Maskandi musician Stabhilithi Mvubu is lucky to be alive after a serious road accident on the evening of 10 August 2026, sending shockwaves through a music community already reeling from recent loss.
Mvubu broke the news himself on social media, sharing photographs of the vehicle he had been travelling in - a Toyota Fortuner SUV that sustained severe rear-end and side collision damage, with the rear windshield completely shattered and removed. The images left followers visibly shaken, flooding the comments section with questions about his condition and messages of relief.
Still shaken by the terrifying car accident, the artist expressed a mix of shock and gratitude over escaping with his life.

Maskandi community already in mourning
The accident lands at a deeply painful moment for the Maskandi world. Just days earlier, the genre lost two of its own, Scebi Dlamini, known professionally as Inkosi Yamagcokama, and Sipho "Gupta" Mchunu, both of whom passed away following a car accident in Richards Bay.
On 9 August, the day before his own crash, Mvubu had posted a heartfelt tribute to the two fallen stars.
