Sfiso Ndlovu ignited controversy on social media after a video surfaced of him appearing visibly intoxicated and criticising fellow artists, including Tyla, during the South African Music Awards.

His remarks sparked backlash, prompting an immediate response from Busiswa, who condemned his behaviour while acknowledging his personal journey.

"I'm rooting for this guy to win in life because his story is remarkable, but someone needs to remind him it's podcast n chill, not podcast & drink. Sip n Pod will be his own denigration."

In the video, which surfaced on 17 August 2026, Sfiso appears visibly intoxicated while criticising a number of prominent South African artists.

His target was the moment when Tyla, fresh from receiving the prestigious International Achievement Award, invited her fellow artists to join her on stage in celebration. Cassper Nyovest, Limpopo star Makhadzi, and DJ Tira were among the big names who stepped up to share the milestone with the Water hitmaker.

Rather than seeing it as a gesture of unity, Sfiso took issue with the scene.

"The coloured lady made all the black people excited for a stupid award."

He further accused the artists of allowing themselves to be summoned by someone much younger.

The comment landed hard with many online, who had already been vocal about Sfiso's behaviour. His rant struck many as both disrespectful to Tyla and dismissive of the artists who shared a genuine celebration moment.

This is not the first time the podcaster has attracted negative attention. Earlier in 2026, he faced widespread backlash after bodyshaming singer Thatohatsi during one of his episodes. He eventually apologised, but public sentiment against him remained unresolved heading into the SAMA controversy.

Nota Baloyi chimes in

While much of the comment section turned on Sfiso following the viral clip, his Music Pulse co-host Nota Baloyi came to his defence.

"He didn't call in sick; may we all love our jobs and find employment where passion is uninhibited. The fanbase needs something to defend, every week. The chess is 5D!"

Nota's outspoken commentary has repeatedly landed him in hot water, from the Thatohatsi controversy to fierce disputes with Shimza and Black Coffee, both of whom took him to court for defamation.

Da L.E.S faces backlash for slamming Tyla

In an earlier report, Briefly News shared online reactions to Da L.E.S' remarks about one of Tyla's newest songs.

The rapper criticised Tyla's artistry, and it wasn't long before the singer's supporters shot back by questioning L.E.S' credibility.
