The time-lapse clip showed Crews at his desk, starting with a ruler and basic pencil guidelines before slowly building up the likeness of his America's Got Talent co-star and boss. The finished piece captured Cowell's facial features with striking accuracy. Later, during his NFL years, he painted hyper-realistic portraits of teammates and sold them for around $5,000 (around R80,862.00) each to keep his family financially stable between contracts.
His professional portfolio spans sports lithographs, magazine covers, and even a hand-illustrated wallcovering collection.
The friendship behind the drawing runs deep. Cowell personally handpicked Crews to host AGT in 2019, and the two reportedly clicked within five minutes of meeting backstage. Crews has since become the longest-running host in the franchise's history.
