Kwaito icon Kabelo Mabalane is back in the music game, but his comeback announcement had fans doing a double take for all the wrong reasons. What was meant to be a celebratory moment turned into widespread panic after his social media post looked, to many, like a death announcement.
On 3 September 2026, the Pantsula 4 Life hitmaker affectionately known as Bouga Luv shared a statement revealing his first solo single in a decade, titled Everybody Needs Somebody. The track serves as the lead single for an upcoming album recorded between Johannesburg and Los Angeles, and introduces a sound he calls Street Psalms - described as "a bold new sound where faith meets the streets," reflecting his commitment to ministry.
Kabelo Mabalane's poster sparks panic
Rather than the excitement of the music news itself, it was the visual presentation of the announcement that stopped people in their tracks. Set against a dark backdrop with a photo of Kabelo gazing ahead, the post read less like a press release and more like a funeral notice. To make matters worse, the words "Press Release" printed beside his photo were, at a quick glance, strikingly easy to misread as "Rest in Peace."
