Who is actually on the FC27 soundtrack?

The AKA listed on the EA Sports FC playlist is, in fact, Callum Thompson, a British indie-rock musician formerly of The Mysterines. His 2026 track "It Grows On Trees (Money)" earned him a spot on the global soundtrack, which EA described as music that reflects "the world's game." The coincidence of the shared stage name was enough to send Mzansi into a brief frenzy of hope before reality set in.

South African rapper AKA, whose real name was Kiernan Forbes, was shot and killed in Durban in February 2023. He remains one of the most celebrated figures in African hip-hop, and grief for him continues to surface regularly online.

AKA's name was back in the news once again as the inquest into the death of his late fiancée Anele Tembe finally got underway.

Briefly News reported that the witness, Rob Steffanutto, told the court that he heard a heated argument between a man and a woman before Anele Tembe fell.

The witness described rushing to Tembe's side and finding her alive, with her eyes open, after hotel security had already covered her.
