South African rapper Cassper Nyovest has expressed shock after news broke of a mass shooting in KwaZulu-Natal that left at least 11 people dead. The musician took to X on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, to react after SABC Morning Live posted a breaking news alert about the tragedy.

Nyovest reposted the SABC Morning Live bulletin with just four words: "Yoh bathong Mara no ways." His disbelief was shared by thousands who had been following the news since the early hours of the morning.

What Happened in KwaMakhutha

Armed men forced their way into a home in the Ziko area of KwaMakhutha, south of Durban, shortly before 11 pm on 22 September 2026. All 14 people present at the property at the time were caught in the attack; 11 were killed, and three others were wounded. Among the dead was a pregnant woman.
