Ayanda Thabethe's husband, businessman Peter Matsimbe, is at the centre of a fresh storm after reports emerged that Sandton police are investigating whether he fled to Zambia to avoid being arrested. The alleged flight comes amid a turbulent period for the media personality, who is currently pregnant with her third child.
According to Crime Connect, which cited Sunday World, an arrest warrant for Matsimbe was issued by the North Gauteng High Court back in 2020, and authorities are now reportedly trying to enforce it. It remains unclear why enforcement took so long.
The allegations against Matsimbe
The case dates back to November 2020, when Standard Bank reportedly accused Matsimbe of using allegedly fraudulent documents to secure financing for 10 luxury vehicles through his company, Matsimbe and Co. Court documents reportedly list the vehicles as a McLaren MP4, BMW X5, Can-Am Maverick, Audi Q3, Nissan Navara, Toyota Hilux, Land Cruiser, Lexus SUV, Volvo mechanical horse and Lexus LX. The allegations have not been proven in court, and the claim that Matsimbe fled to Zambia has not been independently confirmed.

MacG's explosive claims and Thabethe's troubles
The fraud investigation is not the only cloud hanging over Matsimbe. Podcaster MacG recently made explosive claims about him on Podcast and Chill, alleging that a source close to Thabethe claimed Matsimbe had been having affairs since the start of their marriage and had links to criminality. Thabethe and Matsimbe marked two years of marriage in June 2026.
The controversy follows a period in which Thabethe's marriage was already under public scrutiny after she appeared to drop her husband's surname from her social media pages, fuelling breakup speculation. Despite all the noise, she announced that she is expecting another baby.
Netizens had plenty to say about the unfolding drama, with many directing their comments at both Matsimbe and Thabethe.
