Many viewers of the once most-watched telenovela, Sibongile & The Dlaminis, come to an end after two successful seasons on Mzansi Wethu DStv channel 163.

Recently, the entertainment commentator Jabu Macdonald shared on his social media page that the show closed its final curtain on Wednesday, 23 July 2025, as it aired its last episode on TV, despite also taking a production break in March 2025.

One of its main actors, Vuyo Biyela, who played the role of Kwenzokuhle Dlamini on the telenovela, also went on his social media page on Wednesday, 23 July 2025, to express his gratitude to Mzansi Magic and the production company for believing in him and trusting him with portraying his character for the past two seasons.

He wrote:

"What a journey it has been…Two incredible years of Sibongile & The Dlaminis on our screens, and what a blessing it’s been to be part of something so special. I want to take this moment to deeply thank every single person who has supported us from day one until tonight’s episode 🥹 your love has meant the world.

He also shared a few words about being able to work with such an amazing crew and cast, and the lessons he has learned throughout this journey.

You’ve each touched my heart in ways words can hardly explain. This experience taught me so much about acting, storytelling, and life itself. Here’s to the next chapter," he wrote.

Mzansi Magic confirms the end of SIbongile & The Dlaminis

Just as social media buzzed after reports that the telenovela had come to an end, the Mzansi Magic PR Specialist, Irvin Pooe, confirmed to Briefly News Journalist Mbali Tebele that the show closed its curtains despite the great numbers it pulled in the past.

He said:

"Since since its premiere, the show has won the hearts of over two million viewers with its emotional ups and downs, plot twists, and memorable characters. From Sibongile’s rise to the Dlaminis' family drama, it quickly became a regular feature on weeknights. As Mzansi Wethu’s first original telenovela, it not only made a significant impact but also helped launch new stars."

DJ Finzo makes debut on Isitha: The Enemy

In more entertainment news, Briefly News reported that popular Giants of the City cast member DJ Finzo bagged an acting gig on one of Mzansi's biggest drama series.

The South African DJ Finzo will debut on eTV's drama series Isitha: The Enemy as Martha's boyfriend. According to a source from Black Brain Pictures, Finzo, whose real name is Phinel Sefatsa, the episode will air in a few weeks.
