R8k Incomplete McDonald’s Bill Gets SA Talking: “Buying Company Shares”

• A TikTok content creator named Ntando showed people on the internet a shocking McDonald's bill that was going over R8 000
• Ntando alluded to having offered to pay for a woman and her friends' meals, but did not reveal what the group ordered to reach that amount
• Online community members were in disbelief over what they saw and joked about the total in the comment section

A young man left many jaws on the floor when he showed a restaurant bill at a McDonald's franchise that climbed over R8 000. Whether it was done for content purposes or a genuine display of hunger, South Africans wondered about what was on the list of items chosen to bust the people's hunger.

On 16 September, 2025, a content creator named Ntando uploaded the clip to his TikTok account. He showed the touchscreen menu with the increasing bill, which went from R8 042 all the way to R8 365 after a few items were added. Unfortunately, he didn't show the menu items supposedly ordered.

Ntando wrote in his post:

"POV: You offered to pay for her and her friends' food."

Briefly News reached out to Ntando and is awaiting his reply.

McDonald's bill stuns the internet

Hundreds of social media users flooded the comment section with shock and curiosity after encountering the bill on their For You Pages. In true South African fashion, local members of the online community didn't hesitate to crack a few jokes.

@a.r.t_ificial stated with a laugh:

"At that point, you guys are buying company shares."

@non.chalant_capitalx jokingly asked the man:

"Did you include everyone else in there, staff members and those still coming?"

A humorous @_bmo_m wrote in the comments:

"Is someone trading on the McDonald’s screen? Why does it look like unrealised P/L (Profit/Loss)?"

@usernameuuurgh, in jest, wanted to lend a helping hand, writing:

"Do you want my McDonald’s QR code because those points will be so good?"
