A Xhosa man’s hilarious video of a controversial tribal trade captivated social media users.

The clip, shared by TikTok user @uncle_mkhulu, garnered massive views, likes, and comments from viewers who shared a mix of laughter and playful banter.

The humorous man, TikTok user @uncle_mkhulu, starts his video by pleading with the Zulu nation to trade General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, a Zulu, to be Xhosa. He says he will give them three Xhosa politicians in exchange: ANC member Fikile Mbalula, Minister Gwede Mantashe, and Umkhonto Wesizwe Party member Andile Mngxitama. He humorously adds that giving three for one is a fair trade.

The video then transitions to show contrasting clips. The first shows Fikile Mbalula delivering a speech, saying he was not going to go speak to taxi drivers, fearing for his life. This is immediately followed by a clip of General Mkhwanazi at a taxi rank, fearlessly addressing drivers and ordering them to let the police do their job if they don't want war. The clip also shows the general's fearless reaction to a loud bang during the live recording of the Madlanga Commission of Enquiry.

SA react with humour to the playful banter

The video garnered 431K views, 30K likes, and 7.6K comments from entertained social media users. Many said they would not take the three politicians even if they did not have to trade the General. Some jokingly offered to give Xhosas the likes of Senzo Mchunu, Bheki Cele and Siyacela Dlamuka. Others said the General had a combination of all the tribes' DNA, and that he therefore belonged to every tribe.
