A Japanese restaurant in Pretoria has set South African food lovers into a frenzy. Lifestyle TikTok creator Blondie&Ginger shared a video on 9 August 2026 showcasing a pair of striking rice bun sushi burgers, and the internet has not been the same since.

The clip, filmed from a top-down angle, showed two golden, sesame-topped rice buns nestled in takeout containers on a wooden table. Inside each bun sat layers of salmon, pickled vegetables and fresh greens, with fortune cookies rounding out the spread. The presentation was clean, appetising and impossible to scroll past.
