An elderly South African man became the unlikely hero of Spring Day 2026 after a video of him refusing to be a water-splashing target made waves online.

Mzansi TikToker Kay Bee, who posts under @kay.bee367, shared the clip on 2 September 2026. It showed an old man squaring up against a young man who came at him with a bucket of water, clearly not prepared for the resistance he would meet. The elderly man held his ground and fought back, bucket and all.

The video landed at a sensitive moment. Spring Day celebrations across South Africa had already turned dangerous in the days leading up to the post, with reports of people being splashed against their will in public spaces, including shopping malls. Most shockingly, a 21-year-old lost his life after being stabbed by a man who retaliated against being drenched.
