A South African woman living in China gave her followers a front-row seat to one of the most unexpected fast food taste tests on the internet. On 13 September 2026, Instagram creator @maskhosi_sandy posted a selfie-style food review video.

The video, captioned "Ice cream chicken to the world," showed her trying KFC China's novelty ice cream chicken, a menu item she had been curious about since the moment she ordered it.

What is KFC China's ice cream chicken?

Her first reaction upon unwrapping the item was visible confusion. She had genuinely wondered what biting into chicken filled with ice cream would feel like, but what arrived turned out to be something quite different. The item is not actually chicken with ice cream inside. It is instead an ice cream shaped and presented like a piece of chicken, with a coating that tastes like a waffle cone and a chocolate piece designed to look like a bone.

Once she got over the surprise, the verdict was enthusiastic. She rated the ice cream chicken an eight or nine out of ten, describing what she thought might be a banana flavour. Her only critique was that she wished the chocolate had been longer.

The Oreo burger she sampled in the previous session did not fare as well. She gave it a four or five out of ten, saying the chicken fillet was fine but that the rest of the burger did not win her over.
