Khanyi Sithole put her monthly stockpiling routine on full display in a Facebook video that caught the attention of budget-conscious South Africans.

Posted on 22 September 2026, the clip showed Sithole unpacking a large grocery haul she picked up during the Shoprite Red Sale. A screenshot of her savings account was overlaid on screen, adding a layer of financial transparency that many viewers appreciated.

She spent R2 500 on groceries and walked away having saved R1 103 in the process.

Khanyi's stockpiling method

Sithole explained that she does this every month, setting aside between R200 and R300 depending on what is on sale. She described herself as a stockpiler, someone who buys in bulk when prices drop so that household staples are always available without the pressure of last-minute shopping.
