SA debates about the costs of dining

The comments section was flooded with diverse reactions from social media users. Many laughed heartily at the woman's dramatic reaction, playfully asking if they had eaten lobsters or caviar. Some expressed surprise at her shock, suggesting that Doppio Zero was an affordable place for a good meal.

Others, however, noted that the restaurant's prices have indeed changed, with many attributing the rise to the current economy. These users argued that the establishment no longer offers the same affordable prices it once did.

User @Naledi shared:

"I went to Spur with acquaintances on Saturday. The bill was R 2,150; that time, the food I ordered was R250. I had R350. I've never been embarrassed like that. The money was not enough💔."

"Guys, just cook at home and eat nice with your girls. Don’t go out if you don’t have the means 😭. One thing about me, I’ll never be financially peer pressured. 'Chomie, it’s fine, we’re just having drinks,' 😭 must leave my house for a drink?

User @siphosamanyamande commented:

"My biggest contribution to my friends' group is that, before we order, I ensure we know how much we have. I then divide the amount to know how much each one of us can use to order. Even if one takes us out, I ensure we know how much they've budgeted for the food we will buy!"
