EFF takes on Operation Dudula
On Saturday, 20 September 2025, the EFF went to the Alexandra police station to take legal action against Operation Dudula. The EFF Gauteng Provincial Chairperson, Commissar Nkululeko Dunga, said that the movement operates like a vigilante group.
He said that Operation Dudula is behaving like the apartheid regime, requiring people to walk around with identification. Dunga stated that this is the same as the dom pass law, which South Africans fought hard against.
The provincial chairperson said that Operation Dudula has no mandate to chase people out of clinics and hospitals. He said that South Africa is a democratic state and is governed by the rule of law.
Sick child dies after being denied access to clinic
Earlier this week, Newzroom Afrika reported that a Malawian national, Grace Banda, said that Operation Dudula members prevented her from accessing a clinic in Alexandra with her sick child. The one-year-old child later allegedly died.
Operation Dudula said that it did not instruct any member to block access at the clinic.

Social media users shared their opinions regarding the EFF's stance.
@Scocolito_Berry said:
"Police will first have to arrest illegal immigrants. They can't enforce one law and turn a blind eye on the other. Let's see how the police work this out. Illegal immigration is criminality on its own."

"Daily reminder that EFF members are all retarded. Airheads of note. So our tax money must feed illegals because EFF gets funded by them."
@MissVoo1 said:
"Every money spent on undocumented foreigners is money stolen from poor SAns who wait in endless queues, mothers who give birth on the floor, and patients who die without medication. You can’t claim to serve the people while you abandon them to compete with those who broke the law."
@daxster30 said:
"So instead of marching to the police station and asking the police to arrest the ILLEGAL foreigners I mean by them being here illegally that’s a crime on its own, unless the illegal is silent when it comes to foreigners."
