A 21-year-old woman from Limpopo was brutally murdered by her boyfriend. The victim was reportedly arrested on Thursday for assaulting the 45-year-old suspect.

Upon her release, the deceased is said to have headed straight to a local tavern, where she met with the suspect and got into an altercation.

Police spokesperson Lt-Col Malesela Ledwaba confirmed that the victim was arrested after getting into a vicious altercation with her boyfriend in Monsterloos village outside Sekhukhune. According to TimesLIVE, the victim, identified as Zintle Mokoena (21), appeared before Nebo magistrate's court on Friday for assaulting her boyfriend but was released on free bail.

SowetanLIVE adds that upon her release, Zintle headed to the local tavern, where she met her boyfriend. Soon after meeting, the love birds got into another fight. Eyewitnesses said the suspect dragged the victim to her house, next to the tavern. The boyfriend allegedly stabbed the deceased several time, killing her on the spot.

Police were called to the scene and instantly made an arrest. Lt-Col said a case of murder was opened, and the man is set to appear in the Nebo magistrate court on Monday.
