Four people, three men and one woman, were killed in a collision on the N2 between Dokodweni and Amatigulu on KwaZulu-Natal’s north coast on Saturday morning, 16 August 2025.

How did the accident happen?
The accident, which occurred around 8:30 am, involved a light motor vehicle and a truck, according to Department of Transport and Human Settlements spokesperson Ndabezinhle Sibiya.
Transport MEC Siboniso Duma, who had been expecting an update from the Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI), extended his condolences to the families affected. The crash happened shortly after the MEC highlighted a successful provincial roadblock that led to multiple arrests for drunk driving, possession of stolen vehicles, drugs, and other offences.

The MEC has called for a stronger enforcement of the Alufakwa and Zero Tolerance initiatives across the province, aiming to improve road safety, increase the visibility of the Road Traffic Inspectorate, and continue the campaign through the end of the year and beyond.

- A fatal bus accident on the P100 in Ndwedwe claimed the life of one person and left numerous others injured. The accident happened when the driver lost control of the vehicle, reportedly after experiencing a brake failure.

The incident happened at the KwaNokuthula intersection in the early hours at 2:20 am. A bus and a vehicle collided with each other. It's unclear how the collision took place. Four people were confirmed dead.
