DURBAN, KWAZULU-NATAL — Five undocumented foreign nationals were arrested in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, on 17 August 2025 at a massage parlour.

According to eNCA, the South African Police Service conducted a raid in Durban North where a suspected brothel was operating. The officers entered the property and found that drug paraphernalia was on the property. The police also found that the house had illegal water and electricity connections.

The operation moved to Umhlanga, where the police raided a brothel run by a US national. The nationals denied owning the property and said that he was a consultant. The police then entered the house and found women from Korea and Thailand. They were found without proper documentation. Investigations are underway to establish if they were forced to come to South Africa.

Foreign nationals arrested

The police arrested a foreign national in Cape Town on 23 May 2025 after he was found with over R1 million in his possession. The police also found numerous bank cards and several cellphones in his possession. He was unable to provide reasons for why he possessed the items.

The police arrested close to 1,000 illegal miners in Barberton, Mpumalanga, on 31 July 2025. They were charged with the contravention of the Immigration Act after they were forced to come out of the underground shafts.

Operation Dudula and foreign nationals

Operation Dudula embarked on a campaign to remove foreign nationals from public healthcare facilities in June 2025. The political party has come under fire from politicians and human rights organizations, including the South African Human Rights Commission.

Department of Home Affairs officials arrested

In a related article, Briefly News reported that five suspects were arrested in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, on 14 June 2025 for fraud and corruption. The arrested suspects were accused of supplying foreign nationals with identity documents.
