He said a multi-disciplinary team, including the NSRI and police divers as well as paramedics, responded to the call. According to Lambinon, it later emerged that the boat had not capsized as initially thought. Instead, the 25-year-old skipper was believed to have jumped into the water to retrieve personal items that had fallen overboard and did not resurface.

Lambinon said rescue boats, swimmers, and shoreline teams searched the area but found no sign of the missing fisherman. Friends of the man also joined the search with their own boat. He said police divers, together with the NSRI and emergency services, will continue searching.

NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon confirmed the incident to Briefly News. He said:

"Police divers are continuing in ongoing search efforts assisted by NSRI, Metro EMS Rescue and Overstrand Authorities."
