GAUTENG – Brown Mogotsi will finally appear before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, which is probing the allegations of corruption and political interference in the criminal justice system.

The North West businessman has been mentioned numerous times in testimony made before the commission and the Ad Hoc Committee, due to alleged ties to senior police officials and alleged criminal figures.

Mogotsi is accused of serving as an intermediary between suspended Minister of Police, Senzo Mchunu, and tenderpreneur, Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala. WhatsApp messages from Matlala's phone allegedly showed conversations he had with Mogotsi about the Mchunu and the disbanding of the Political Killings Task Team.

When will Mogotsi appear before the commission?

According to the commission’s spokesperson, Jeremy Michaels, Mogotsi will appear on Tuesday, 18 November 2025. He will return to the stand on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, for further testimony.

Mogotsi’s testimony is one of the most eagerly anticipated, due to some of the allegations made about him. The controversial businessman is accused of soliciting funds from Matlala in exchange for classified police information.

Mchunu has denied having dealings with Mogotsi, saying that he only knew him as a “comrade”. Mogotsi has also defended the suspended minister, claiming that Fikile Mbalula was using the name Brown Mogotsi to attack Mchunu.

“This whole thing that led to the Madlanga Commission, the target is Senzo Mchunu,” he said.

Mogotsi has also been in the headlines recently after he alleged that unknown gunmen opened fire on his vehicle in Vosloorus. Cops are currently investigating the shooting.
