PRETORIA, GAUTENG — North West businessman Brown Mogotsi has tied the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, and Zulu King Msuzulu kaZwelethini to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Mogotsi appeared before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Tshwane on 18 November 2025. There, he alleged that a source informed him that Mkhwanazi received training in the United States. He also alleged that Misuzulu stayed in the United States for years.

Mogotsi alleged that Mkhwanazi was trained to protect Western interests in the country. He also alleged that Mkhwanazi assisted Misuzulu in ensuring that he eliminated any opponents to his throne.

A look at Brown Mogotsi

Mogotsi was implicated in the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry by several witnesses. These include Mkhwanazi and Crime Intelligence head Dumisani Khumalo. Mogotsi was also linked to suspected cartel bosses Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala and Katiso "KT" Molefe.

An alleged attempt on Mogotsi's life was made when he survived a shooting. The incident happened in Ekurhuleni in November, weeks after the South African Police Service raided his household.

Mogotsi was also implicated by witnesses testifying before the Ad Hoc Committee in Parliament. Suspended Deputy National Commissioner General Shadrack Sibiya confirmed that he knew Mogotsi and had met him. Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, who was placed on leave, also said that he knew him, but as nothing more than a comrade.

SAPS obtains statement from Mogotsi

In a related article, Briefly News reported that SAPS obtained a statement from Mogotsi after he disappeared following the shooting incident in Vosloorus, despite promising to be at the police station that morning. Mogotsi was supposed to report to the Vosloorus Police Station on 4 November 2025 after the shooting incident.

Mogotsi initially alleged that he was traveling through Vosloorus when his vehicle was shot at. He said that he was too traumatised to open a case immediately.
