Durban E-Hailing Driver Survives Brutal Bush knife Attack in Phoenix

DURBAN - A Durban e-hailing driver survived a terrifying knife attack while on the job in Phoenix. Farad Razak was in the middle of a drop-off along Litford Road on Saturday when a man known to him yanked open his driver's door and struck him with a bush knife.
According to IOL, Razak told how he had been looking towards the passenger side of the car when the attack began. The assailant slashed him across the hand first, then drove the blade into his stomach.

When Razak tried to step out of the vehicle to defend himself, the attacker struck again, this time delivering a deep wound to his leg.

"He just struck at me. I could not comprehend what was happening," Razak said.
With his body in shock, he climbed back into the car, released the handbrake and let the vehicle roll forward until he was out of reach. He could not feel his right leg at all. Desperate to keep the car moving, he lifted his injured leg onto the accelerator and drove himself away from danger.
"I really feared for my life," he said
Razak drove himself to safety
Before seeking medical help, he phoned his family to let them know what had happened. He then drove himself to a clinic in Phoenix, where nurses treated his wounds before he was transferred to hospital. He is currently recovering.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Paul Magwaza confirmed that an attempted murder case had been opened at Phoenix SAPS. According to Magwaza, the suspect had been driving a white bakkie and allegedly tried to overtake Razak's vehicle. When Razak pulled aside to let him pass, the man stopped, got out and attacked him without a word.
Razak was clear that this was not a road rage incident. The suspect is someone he knows.
For Razak, who has spent eight years behind the wheel, nothing in his experience had prepared him for this.
"I am trying to make an income in this tough line of business," he said.
