SOUTH AFRICA — A video clip from the Transit Ringas podcast has gone viral on social media, showing host Isaack Lesole making pointed remarks about Joe Sibanyoni, who was shot in an ambush outside a golf estate in Sandton in August 2022.

The clip, shared on X by the account @ThisIsColber, features Lesole seated at a branded round table, speaking directly and with visible intensity about the circumstances surrounding the shooting and its aftermath.

Lesole describes Sibanyoni's response to the shooting

In the video, Lesole recounts that after surviving the shooting, the individual in question did not go to the police. Instead, according to Lesole, he went to church. Lesole also described how the man, still recovering in hospital, requested an early discharge because he believed those responsible for the attack were still pursuing him.

Quoting the individual's alleged state of mind at the time, Lesole said:

"If you miss me once, I survive. I know that you are still looking for me. I asked the hospital management for an early discharge because I know that they are still coming for me."

Lesole's broader message was directed at anyone willing to engage: "You go home and go into a hiding place and just sit down, kneel and pray. Talk to us. Talk to us. We are listening."

Madlanga Commission criticised

Beyond the personal narrative, Lesole also used the platform to criticise law enforcement, alleging that police had exploited the Madlanga Commission rather than fulfilling their investigative obligations.

"I will also make a proposition, and I sort of want to agree that the police have taken advantage of the Madanga Commission. They are not doing the work," he stated.

The clip has attracted renewed attention as Sibanyoni's trial has begun, drawing public focus back to the 2022 ambush and the questions that remain unanswered. Sibanyoni also appeared as a witness at Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala's trial after he was charged with Sibanyoni's assassination attempt.
