Radio personality and media commentator Sizwe Dhlomo has sent Mzansi into a frenzy after digging up an old post by President Cyril Ramaphosa that has aged rather interestingly. The resurfaced tweet, originally posted on 25 May 2018, shows Ramaphosa venting about just how gruelling life in the Union Buildings really is.

Shortly after taking over from former President Jacob Zuma in 2018, Ramaphosa took to X to share his honest first impressions of the job. In the post, he made it clear that nobody had prepared him for the relentless pace that came with the position.

"If there is one thing that Former President Zuma never told me about the job of President, it is that kusetyenzwa way-waya (you're constantly working)!" Ramaphosa wrote at the time.

He went even further, hinting that full disclosure might have changed his decision entirely. Addressing Zuma by his clan name, he added: "Had I known, Nxamalala, perhaps I would have changed my mind."

Sizwe Dhlomo's cheeky take on Ramaphosa's confession

On 11 October 2026, more than eight years after the original post, Sizwe weighed in with a response that landed perfectly. The broadcaster suggested that Ramaphosa had been pushed into the role despite warnings.

"Lol! Told these dudes early and they forced him," Sizwe wrote.

Another public figure whose comment surfaced below Ramaphosa's post was Julius Malema, who responded on the very same day the post was published. The EFF leader, who Dhlomo previously referred to as his "brother," offered a straightforward "He banna," reflecting the sheer shock of Mzansi at the president's unfiltered confession.
