Golden Arrows goalkeeper Sifiso Mlungwana is setting his sights on getting a call-up to the Bafana Bafana squad.
This comes after the former Arrows reserves keeper was snubbed for the South African U23 spot in the squad heading to the United Arab Emirates to prepare for this year’s Olympics in Japan.
Mlungwana has been a vital cog for coach Mandla Ncikazi’s side as they have done exceptionally well in the DStv Premiership.
The 24-year-old has had a fantastic run in his breakout season in the top flight as they look to finish as number three this term.
Should Abafana Bes’thende claim the third spot, they will represent Mzansi in the lucrative CAF Confederation Cup.
With U23 coach David Notoane having announced his squad and preferred the likes of Mondli Mpoto, Lincoln Vyver, and Ricardo Goss, Mlungwana has responded to the snub and said as quoted by KickOff:
"I think it's one of the challenges I was supposed to face in life so that I can strengthen my football career, it's a once-off thing, it's not the end of the road.
"I can still push for our senior team, to get selected for the senior team. I'm very disappointed but it's not the first time, but there's nothing I can do, I will look forward to my future.”
