Embattled Bafana Coach Ntseki Disappointed After Afcon Qualification Failure

In the wake of their failure to qualify for the 2021 CAF Africa Cup of Nations tournament set to be staged in Cameroon, Bafana Bafana coach Molefi Ntseki's job is now on the line.
The 1996 African champions were looking for a draw in their final qualifier against Sudan on Sunday evening, but the embattled coach failed to guide his men to a desirable result.
Bafana lost the clash via a 2-0 scoreline, leaving many fans disappointed and according to a report carried by TimesLIVE, the former school teacher's job is set to be discussed by the South African Football Association.

Speaking to SAFA media, Ntseki expressed disappointment, saying the failure to reach the continental tournament will hit his personal growth as a coach. He said:
"I think as a head coach of Bafana Bafana, I came up with a turn-around strategy and I think everything started very well, because we managed to accumulate 10 points and needed only a point to qualify.
"Yes, as a coach, as head of the selection committee, as head of the team, my disappointment is huge – it's huge for my personal growth and my personal achievement as coach of Bafana Bafana.
"The success of the team is my success, and the failure of the team firstly starts with me – to say, 'I have failed as a coach', because in football we need to own up.
"When there is a success, you become everybody's favourite but when there is a failure, you become an orphan and everybody looks at you and says, 'You failed the team; you could not qualify.'
"But things like this do happen in football, and we own up... It's a big disappointment for myself."
TimesLIVE also reports that Ntseki now faces an uncertain future and he is likely to be forced to walk the plank by his employers‚ even though they should also come under scrutiny after the ignominy of failing to qualify for Cameroon.
Meanwhile, Briefly.co.za recently reported that Bafana was under pressure after squandering an opportunity to beat Ghana at home on Thursday night.
Ntseki's troops drew 1-1 against the Black Stars at FNB Stadium on Thursday evening but their loss at the hands of the Falcons of Jediane has compounded their struggles.
For now, it remains to be seen if SAFA's hierarchy will decide to part ways with the manager or give him time to lead the team to the FIFA World Cup in Qatar next year.
